Nestled in the state of Karnataka, Coorg (officially called Kodagu) is the largest coffee producing district in India, and offers some of the finest Arabica and Robusta beans. Often referred to as the ‘Scotland of India’ due to its striking resemblance to the Scottish highlands, the region is home to the breathtaking Abbey, Iruppu, and Mallalli waterfalls. The local Kodava people are known as much for their keen hospitality as they are renowned for their prowess in traditional martial arts.

A short drive away, in nearby Mysuru district, is the Namdroling Monastery, the largest teaching centre of the Nyingma lineage of Tibetan Buddhism in the world. The place where it is located, Bylakuppe, is said to be the largest Tibetan settlement in the world outside Tibet.
